The CDA Certification Pathway is a structured progression system that validates cybersecurity practitioner competency across all six Planetary Defense Model domains. The pathway spans seven levels -- M0 Sentry (50 points) through M5 Commander (600 points) plus Crew (1000 points) -- with each level representing increasing depth of expertise and operational capability. The Eagle Standard, CDA's highest individual achievement, requires attaining M5 Commander certification in all six PDM domains.
Progression is points-based, earned through completed Theater missions, Institute courses, and community contributions. Each certification level requires demonstrating competency in specific domain areas through mission deliverables rated by the C2 quality system. M0 Sentry validates foundational knowledge. M1 Operator confirms the ability to execute defined procedures. M2 Analyst demonstrates independent analytical capability. M3 Engineer proves the ability to build and implement security solutions. M4 Architect validates strategic design competency. M5 Commander certifies the ability to lead and direct security operations across a domain. The Rite of Passage Examination (RoPE) validates readiness for each tier. Certifications are tracked in the operator's Shadow Box alongside earned ribbons, medals, and achievements.
Traditional cybersecurity certifications test knowledge through multiple-choice examinations. CDA certifications validate demonstrated capability through actual mission execution and rated deliverables. This approach ensures certification holders can do the work, not just answer questions about it. The six-domain structure prevents narrow specialization by encouraging breadth across the entire Planetary Defense Model while allowing depth in chosen domains.
The certification pathway is the professional development backbone of the CDArmy. It connects Institute training to Theater execution to Arena recognition, creating a complete lifecycle where learning translates to capability, capability produces results, and results earn advancement. The Eagle Standard represents CDA's vision of the complete cybersecurity professional.

The Shield is CDA's primary diagnostic visualization. It is a circular diagram with six concentric rings and six radial segments, producing 36 scored cells that together represent the complete security posture of an organization.
Iron Iris Seal state represents maximum defensive posture, with non-essential services suspended and all resources focused on containment and response.
